President, Jane Venson-Talford
Greetings Members, Supporters and Community Advocates,
Thank you for visiting our website. I have the honor of serving as the 43rd president of the Beta Epsilon Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, the first chapter chartered in Memphis, TN in 1934 and the 55th graduate chapter established in the United States. Our prestigious chapter proudly boasts 86 years of community service and civic stewardship. Annually, Beta Epsilon Omega awards more than $35,000 in academic and community service scholarships to high school students in Memphis and the Mid-South.
This year Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. celebrates 112 years of Service to All Mankind. Throughout our history the sorority has served as a champion for causes that help eradicate civil and socio-economic injustice. Our members have been resilient and persistent in their commitment to service to the communities where we work, live and play. As history illustrates, Beta Epsilon Omega continues to support the vision of Glenda Glover, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority’s International President as We Strive and We Do – to deliver community service that aligns with our international programs. In 2018, President Glover, unveiled our 2018-2022 theme. Exemplifying Excellence through Sustainable Service. The five (5) program targets: HBCU for Life: A Call to Action, Women’s Healthcare and Wellness, Building Your Economic Legacy, The Arts! and Global Impact.
If you are a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, we would love to have you join us at our regularly scheduled chapter meetings, which take place the first (1st) Saturday of each month, excluding July and August. Our meetings begin promptly at 11:00 am, at First Baptist Church-Broad, 2835 Broad Ave., Memphis, TN 38112.
